Compost Devices
Rather than using your own elbow grease to turn your compost heap and keeping its environment condusive composting, one could purchase or build a composting device. There are many types of composting devices including:
- Rollers
- Tumblers
- Aerators
- Converters
- Machines
- Accelerators
- Turning equipment
Compost Rollers
Compost rollers are typically used to spread compost after it is made, but they do make a roller that is very similar to a compost tumbler that makes compost.
The Compost Roller produces compost in just 2 weeks with this easy to use innovative design and aerobic composting process. This ensures that the composting bacteria are never short of oxygen, and keeps them working at full speed. In order for the Compost Roller to work efficiently it idealy needs to be filled with organic waste from the garden and kitchen in one go. Give it a couple of spins once a day. This mixes the material and aerates it allowing the micro-organisms to get to work quickly and efficiently. When ready empty into a a traditional wooden compost bin to allow the material to fully mature.
Compost Tumblers
These handy little compost makers are wonderful for small to medium lawns. They churn out compost very quickly and easily.
DAY 1 Gather up your old leaves, your grass clippings, your garden scraps and put them in the ComposTumbler. Close the door. Give the handle a few turns.
DAY 2 THROUGH 13 Each day give the handle a few quick, easy turns to make sure air circulates inside.
DAY 14 Open the door and voila! You have the same rich, fluffy, sweet compost that used to take a year to make the old way.
Compost Aerators
This device is nothing more than a hand tool, but it does its job well. A compost aerator keeps oxygen in the mix so you keep your compost decomposition from becoming anaerobic and smelly.
Compost Converters
>
These are bins with an added feature that make it very nice. They have a bottom door to remove your finished compost. The unfinished compost just falls into place at the bottom to keep on cooking.
Composting Machines
Rollers, tumblers, converters, and equipment can all be considered composting machines.Accellerators
Accellerators are additives that stimulate micro-organism activity in a compost pile, thus accelerating the decomposition of organic material.Compost Turning equipment
This sounds like it might be a pitch fork or shovel, but this term is typically referring to large tractor like machines that turn huge amounts of compost quickly. Compost turning equipment should be used in professional compost production facilities.
